El Boomeran(g)

Un día de 1978 me visitó Memoria con la donación del proyecto de Re/tratos. Quedé maravillado ante la manifestación de los primeros diagramas: Einstein, Alfoso X El Sabio y, principalmente, Ramón Llull. Estas imágenes anímicas - realismo invisible- me hicieron tomar conciencia y persuadieron definitivamente: las estructuras letradas, con sus perfectas simetrías, lecturas intertextuales y multiplicidad de sentidos, rasgaban el velo de la casualidad o el azar.

Estábamos ante un importante hallazgo, un sistema cognoscitivo -poético, arquitectónico, filosófico, plástico, etc.- que traspasando la máscara de la persona, dejaba vislumbrar el mapa de la predestinación y el destino del ser.

Quizá el motivo del descubrimiento fuese que en aquella época estaba enfrascado en Círculo (libro sin volumen, desplegable, el cuadrado se transforma en cruz), publicado en 1979, poema compuesto de anagramas y palíndromos tratados como soportes de meditación.

Más tarde supe que en Oriente, principalmente en China, esta milenaria ciencia había sido muy desarrollada. Los sellos -arte sigilario- contenían y proyectaban la energía psíquica del individuo. Por otra parte los kabalistas, magos o místicos del Islam, también habían penetrado en el secreto de los soportes geométricos, representaciones de la idea de lo infinito.

Conocimiento o cognición: cognomen-nomen-omen, escribieron nuestros antepasados, constructores de Occidente.

Cada vez que componía un nuevo retrato, yo actuaba sin actuar, mi mediúmnica labor consistía en aplicar la fórmula de la coincidencia letrada que automáticamente, desplegaba las líneas maestras de palabras-coordenadas edificando el santuario o "casa del ser", el retrato-relato del universal, con la trayectoria de su vida-obra.

Gozaba al ver cómo el re/trato, con prodigiosa exactitud, se auto-trazaba en virtud de la gravedad y del soplo de la Gracia. La plomada escribe, no la pluma. En este punto surge otro hallazgo, un nuevo concepto: "la pintora palabra" frente al de "la palabra pintada" tradicional.

En el Círculo de Bellas Artes y en 1993 entregué en mano su re/trato a Octavio Paz (mecanografiado sobre papel naranja). Maestro -le dije: su espejo.

Durante años he tenido la alegría de componer y regalar sus Re/tratos a amigos, personas sencillas, anónimas, que, al reconocerse en ellos, han entendido un poco más el misterio de sus vidas a través de la vida de las líneas de su nombre.

Ahora el re/trato de Barack Obama actualiza el prodigioso sistema hallado hace tres décadas. Vemos su precioso sello, constituido por once letras que abren diez lecturas en cuatro columnas, cuatro filas y dos diagonales (ascenso y descenso) que lo convierten en un dechado de sincronía y coincidencia: barras y estrellas.

ABA, AMA, AMABA, ARA, ARABA, BABA, BARAC, OK, RA... Voces sagradas, intertextos hebreos, árabes, latinos, españoles y británicos.

Re/tratos como un himno o cántico de alabanza donde, idealmente, se manifiesta el espíritu creyente, demócrata y multicultural de los Estados Unidos de América.

MEMORY

One day in 1978, Memory visited me with the gift of the Por/traits project. I got wondered with the manisfestation of the first diagrams: Einstein, Alfonso X the Wise and particulary, Ramón Llull. These mind images (invisible realism) made me aware and definitely persuade me: the structures of words, with their perfect symmentries, intertextual approaches and multiplicity of meanings, tore the veil of hazard.

We were facing an important find, a cognoscitive system -poetical, architectonic, pholosophical, plastic, etc.- that going through the person´s mask, gave o glimpse of the map of predestination and the self´s fate.

Perhaps the reason of the discovery was my involvement at that time in Círculo (book without volume, to unfold, square transforming into cross) published in 1979, a poem composed of anagrams and palindromes, conceived as meditation resources.

Later on I realized that in the East, mainly in China, this ancient science had a high development. The sails -their art- contained and projected the individual´s psychic energy. On the other hand, cabalists, magi or islamic mystics had also penetrated in teh secret of geometrical supports, representation of the idea of infinity.

Our ancestors, those builders of the West, wrote: cognomen-nomen-omen. Knowledge or cognition.

Each time I composed a new portrait I acted without acting. My role as a medium cosisted in the application of the formula of the worded coincidence, which automatically spread the key lines of words-coordinates constructing the shrine or "self´s house", the portrait-report of the universal, with the trajectory of it´s life-work.

I was delighted seeing the prodigious accuracy by which the por/trait auto-traced itself, due to gravity and the blow of Grace. What writes is the plumb line, not the fountain pen. Another find, a new concept arises at this point: "the painter-word" against the traditional "painted word".

In 1993, at Círculo de Bellas Artes, I personally handed his por/trait to Octavio Paz (typed in orange paper). Master, I told him: here´s your mirror.

Throughout years i´ve had the joy of conposing por/trait giving them to friends, common and anonymous people. While recognizing themselves in their por/trait, they have learned a bit more about the mystery of their lives though the life contained in the lines of their names.

Now the por/trait of Barack Obama actualizes the prodigious system founded three decades ago. We see it´s precious hallmark constituted by eleven letters opening ten readings in four columns, four lines and two diagonals (ascending and descending) which convert it in an example of synchrony and coincidence: bars and star.

ABA, AMA, AMABA, ARA, ARABA, BABA, BARAC, OK, RA... Sacred voices, Hebrew, Arabic, Latin, Spanish and British intertexts.

Por/trait as a hymn or chant of praise where ideally, the believer, democratic, and multicultural spirit od the United States of America gets manifested.
